The TTS Space Planning team worked with Little Woodlands Children’s Day Nursery to bring its vision for a nurturing, inspiring early years environment to life.
The Nursery’s Brief
With a focus on creating a space where children feel safe, valued and inspired to learn, Little Woodlands asked TTS to transform its early years environments and support the needs of its children and practitioners. TTS’ space planning team worked closely with the nursery to understand its ethos and develop environments that support purposeful play, exploration and discovery.
How TTS Helped Design the Space
Dedicated spaces for babies, toddlers and preschool children were carefully planned to reflect the different developmental stages of each age group, with furniture, resources and learning zones working together to support children’s learning and development.

The design reflects Little Woodlands’ strong connection with the outdoors. With extensive outdoor space and Forest School experiences forming an important part of the nursery’s approach, the environments have been designed to complement outdoor learning and give children opportunities to move, explore and connect with nature.
The result was a series of engaging, purposeful spaces that encourage children to explore, create and make choices independently, while supporting communication, social development and child-led learning.

Ellie McNicol, Director & Manager at Little Woodlands Children’s Day Nursery, said:
“We’ve absolutely loved working with TTS to bring our vision for Little Woodlands to life. From the furniture and resources to the way each space has been planned, the team really understood what we wanted to create for our children.
“We wanted our nursery to feel warm, welcoming and inspiring, while giving children the freedom to explore, make choices and learn through play. TTS helped us achieve that, with thoughtful design and a real understanding of what works for children and practitioners. We’re incredibly proud of the finished spaces and so pleased to have had TTS alongside us throughout the journey.”
