For Key Stage 1 Mathematics, the pieces support Geometry - properties of shapes through recognising and naming common 2-D shapes. Children identify the shapes used in each design, compare visible features and discuss repeated forms, creating a concrete context for geometry games and 2d shape games.
The second Key Stage 1 aim involves comparing and sorting common 2-D shapes. The wooden grid measures 26 x 26cm and includes fifty squares measuring 2cm x 2cm, fifty-six triangles and pieces in six colours. FSC-certified beech wood forms the pieces.
