TTS STEAM 21st Century Learning Kit
Developed in collaboration with UK STEM, this comprehensive whole class resource focuses on developing 21st century and cross-curricula skills.
Overview
The TTS STEAM 21st Century Learning Kit includes 15 high quality, durable learning mats - five for each of the three practical teaching and learning ‘real world’ projects. Children develop the 4 C’s (critical thinking, creative thinking, collaboration and communication) when constructing a Geodesic Dome, a Stadium Arch and Windy Lift. The number of mats and resources included allows for whole-class participation in small groups, allowing up to six children to work collaboratively at an activity station. Each set of learning mats features the engaging characters Empress and Emperor Pi and are designed with four sections (quarters) that provide clear instructions and guidance, keywords and terminology to encourage independent learning.
Hands on practical physical resources combine with the mats to develop and enhance cross-curricula skills in science, technology, engineering, arts and maths. These include a bumper pack of coloured art straws, white card, string, wooden dowel packs, paper fasteners, thick card wheels and packs of geodesic dome connectors. All contained in a handy storage box!
A USB is also included that contains all of the supporting digital teaching and learning content. This includes a comprehensive set of front-of-class slides for each project that directly relate to each section of the mat, as well as offering additional guidance, examples, related careers, extension activities, and study suggestions. 'How to' video guides provide practical examples for task completion, allowing practitioners to simply facilitate the learning.
This resource is suitable for a wide range of ages and abilities. Tasks can be easily modified and there is a range of challenging extension activities included.
