Translucent Colour Linking Cubes
A set of translucent linking cubes in ten different colours.
Overview
Use one hundred translucent cubes for independent or group counting, linking, colour sorting and shape-making on a light panel.
Teachers can use these resources to support tactile and visual exploration. Children investigate quantities, arrangements and shapes through independent or group learning, while the translucent cubes create visible colour effects on a light panel.
In Key Stage 1 Mathematics, use the cubes as concrete objects to identify and represent numbers and compare quantities. Children can model equal to, more than, less than, most and least, then connect arrangements with pictorial representations or a number line.
For addition and subtraction, children can build quantities with connected units before adding or removing them, supporting concrete representations. In Lower Key Stage 2, the cubes also help children identify, represent and estimate numbers using different representations.
