The set consists of 26 blocks, each containing a picture, letter and word relating to the Gruffalo stories.

These simple blocks can introduce children to the sounds each letter can make in context with words found in the story. They can also use the letters to compose simple words.

On the back of the blocks are pictures with animals and objects found in the Gruffalo books. Children can use the picture side of each block as prompts to tell the story in their own words, or use to practice the words and the sounds made in the words, while seeing how they look in written form on the reverse.
