Food Web - Activity Cards

Enable children to understand and create simple food chains and examine feeding relationships. Simply join the cards up to create webs, using the arrows provided. When the web is complete, label the plants and animals to identify producers and consumers.

Includes 40 photographic picture cards, with information on the reverse, 20 arrows, 20 labels for identifying consumers and producers and notes and suggested questions for the teacher.

This resource enables multiple food chains to be created, with 6 examples also provided. The children can also progress to build more complex food chains with different animals at the top. Can be used to fulfil science curriculum requirements on constructing and interpreting a variety of food chains, identifying producers, predators and prey and also for naming different sources of food.

Written by Susanna Ramsey, the creator of ‘The Nature Collection’ series of workshops, which she has run in primary schools since 2010. With themes focusing on local wildlife, food webs, habitats and life cycles, Susanna has now run curriculum linked workshops for over 20,000 children from Reception to Year 6.
