Pupils can use these durable wooden frames to develop their understanding of how numbers relate to 5. For example, seven is two more than five.

Children have two hands, with each hand having 5 fingers. They are used to a 5 and a bit image. The frames are an embodiment of their bodies! These frames are a new way to help pupils on the journey to an abstract notion of numbers to 10, and can move on to explore pair-wise ten frames.
