You’ll need:
- Natural Pine Cones
- Wiggly Stick On Eyes
- Assorted Modelling Dough – for temporary models
- Air Drying Modelling Clay– for a sturdier hedgehog
Step 1 – the feet
Roll out four medium balls of brown modelling dough. Squash into four lozenge shapes, position them underneath the pine cone and gently press the pine cone into the dough.
Step 2 – the face
Roll one large ball of brown modelling dough and squash into the shape of a bowl. The thinner this is, the better it will stay in position. Roll a small ball of pink modelling dough and position on the outside of the bowl shape, in the centre. Press two of the wiggly stick on eyes onto the bowl shape. Push the bowl shape onto the tapered end of the pine cone.
Step 3 – the ears
Roll out two small balls of brown modelling dough and press these into discs. Then roll two smaller balls of light coloured dough, press into discs and position them over the brown discs. Place these at the top of the face and very gently press them into the pine cone.
Ta Dah! One autumn pine cone hedgehog!
