Great for learning phonics and building on spelling skills, these foam jigsaw pieces offer a hands on approach to creating words and learning the 44 sounds of the English language.
Each jigsaw piece is printed with one of the graphemes which make up the 44 sounds of the English Language, so that children can build or break down words by decoding them phonetically. Each piece is also colour coded - consonants are blue, vowels are red and digraphs and trigraphs are green. This will help children understand phonemes further and also alternative spellings for sounds e.g. d-u-l versus d-u-ll. We've also put extra vowels in this set, to give you more pieces to practice split digraphs.
There is no right or wrong way to connect the pieces, every piece fits together the same way, so it really is up to the children to put their phonics skills to the test.

'These wonderful, hands on, easy-grip letter sounds help make spelling words a physical activity. The colourful pieces fit together to support blending and are also great to promote understanding of spaces between words as they can be used to build sentences too.' Mr Thorne, Literacy Co-ordinator.
