AP Dragster Designer 30 Pack

Design and test air powered dragsters whilst exploring construction, aerodynamics, friction and much more.

• Class kit for 30 pupils, includes all the equipment to build the dragsters and an air powered launching system for testing.

• Designed for use with KS2 pupils, the pack includes everything you need to teach a full STEM project.

• The kit includes balsa wood which can be shaped to create the car bodies, as well as the wheels and axles to complete it. The construction of the dragsters will enable children to explore the design process as well as problem solving. During the design stage, children will be encouraged to consider aerodynamics and friction and how the shape, finish and weight of the dragster will affect the speed at which it travels.

• The use of tools like coping saws and sandpaper when shaping the body of the dragster, enables children to develop fine motor skills, hand eye co-ordination, as well as experiment with different techniques to get the desired outcome.

• The use of the hand pump and air powered launcher for testing, enables children to explore acceleration and the calculation of speed, as they determine which dragster can go the fastest.

• Teaching guide included. Will require schools to provide their own shaping tools like coping saws and wood shavers if required.
