The books offer a mix of stories and non-fiction, designed to cultivate a love of reading in all children.

Before diving into each book, children are introduced to phonemes and tricky words relevant to their current phase, ensuring they are prepared for their reading session. This targeted pre-reading preparation allows for effective learning and reduces complexities in real-time reading experiences.

The inside front cover contains a list of focus phonemes and tricky words that are included in the book, so that they can be practised before the reading session. Tricky words are also introduced in line with the Phase and are kept to a minimum. The set also supports the teaching of decoding, prosody and comprehension.
