Inspiring Reading Conference 2019

We are delighted to welcome you to our brand new Inspiring Reading conferences.

The day will be filled with stimulating, high-quality training, delivered by award winning international speakers; Michael Rosen, Nick Sharratt, Michelle Larbey, Centre for Literacy in Primary Education and John Murray.

We promise that you will return to your school ready to take on the world of books, storytelling, reading comprehension and phonics. Our aim is to support you in encouraging the journey of a life-long love of reading for young learners.

The day will be filled with stimulating, high-quality training. Included on the agenda will be: Michael Rosen - Story Telling Master class This keynote will focus on early reading and stories. Michael will draw on his many years of experience to explore some of the innovative ways of early reading and story telling, engaging every teacher, and aspiring to make every child a reader. Nick Sharatt - Cavemen, Ketchup and Coconuts: Getting the most out of Picture Books in the classroom. Michelle Larbey - StoryTime Phonics Michelle will be delivering training on StoryTime Phonics, a systematic, synthetic multisensory approach which contextualises phonics through inspiring a love of real books. Michelle will also share her years of teaching and training experience highlighting key techniques through the use of online videos and practical support. John Murray - Reading Comprehension A recognised specialist in developing children's reading comprehension, John Murray will focus on how to develop and embed core reading skills in order to improve comprehension levels. Participants will gain an understanding of why it is essential to use a skills-based approach when teaching children to understand what they read, and explore a variety of innovative ways in which this can be successfully achieved by all. Centre for Literacy in Primary Education - In this keynote, Anjali Patel will explore the fundamental role choosing and using high quality texts plays in supporting language and vocabulary acquisition and in engaging children to read for pleasure. She will share proven CLPE teaching approaches that enable meaningful engagement with language; enrich vocabulary; and provide rich experiences for children to communicate in a range of ways.
