  • A versatile tool for creating seedbeds, breaking up surfaces and removing troublesome weeds in the garden.

  • As well as providing young gardeners with an enjoyable hands-on learning experience, hoes can be used for a variety of tasks. Hoes can break up compacted soil which promotes healthy plant growth through improved aeration and drainage. They are effective for cutting through and the removal of weeds as well as creating shallow trenches in the soil ready for the planting of seeds.

  • To teach a child how to use a hoe safely, demonstrate how they should hold it properly, keeping it pointed towards the ground, but away from their feet.
