Many children, particularly those with autism spectrum disorder, have difficulty understanding typical social routines or interaction. The first book in this series, Social Situation Stories, aims to cover the basics of how to develop personalised stories to help children understand common everyday situations at home, school or out in the community.
This follow-up book looks to develop ways to improve understanding of less regular situations that can cause a great deal of distress and uncertainty. Examples include: christmas play, inset days, fire alarm, seeing the dentist and moving house.
52 pages, A4. Age 5-11 years.
The stories above are now available on CD Rom for story editing.
Each of the stories can be modified so they can be personalised to the individual child's situation. For example, the child's name or a line of text relevant to that child's particular environment can be added.
