Launching children into a world of new words, such as, mass, capacity and even gigahertz is only the very beginnings of measurement. This exciting strand gives children the tools and skills to understand what measurement really is, learning to obtain a magnitude of a quantity, such as length in relation to a unit of measurement, such as a metre, opens the doors to measurement maths.
Teaching children two golden questions "how many" and "how much"; measurement brings a whole new angle to maths. Measurement even helps develop children's recording abilities, which we all know is a life-long useful skill.
