Role Play Animal Wraps
A great open ended role play set. Children can wrap these fabric pieces around their shoulders, waists and heads to create different effects. They have hook and loop strips for easy access. Made from a variety of animal print velours. Thanks to Busy Bears Nursery, Durham for this great idea. They wanted dress up that was different, for toddlers and was easy to wear. Set of 4 wraps. For ages 2yrs+. Machine washable. Fabric lengths 40 x 100cm.
"We tested the animal role play wraps with our Bumble Children, aged 3-4 years. We initially found that the children used them as blankets, but with a little coaching and adult initiated play the wraps soon came into their own. Previous to having the wraps, the children had an array of material that we had added to their learning environment to encourage their creative play. However they quickly became disregarded after having to tediously ask us to tie knots in them to make capes. These animal wraps overcame all of the children's previous feelings of failure when playing with material as they quickly we're adapted and wore with great ease. The children were very able to fast and unfasten the capes and they actually promoted a lovely sense of community as they began to help each other. The fabrics are of a very robust material that can wash easily and they are extremely durable. At Busy Bears we think the robes are extremely innovative, something that we have longed for in a role play costume, particularly as it has drawn in the boys and their wild imaginations. While we recognise there is a need for the typical doctors and nurses costumes there is nothing on the market quite like these dynamic workable solutions. However it must be said they are adaptable and as the children played, their use for the fabrics grew to dens, animal traps, king's capes etc With regard to the EYFS the children have developed their designing and making but hugely in areas of creative development and using their imagination. We have also added a couple of the capes to our story sacks and the children love to take on the role of the 'tiger who came to tea!" using the wraps there uses for both child and practitioner are endless."
