The Victoria Cross is Britain's and the Commonwealth's highest award made for valour. It was introduced in 1856 by Queen Victoria following the Crimean war and has been awarded over 1350 times but only 14 times since the second world war. Extensive teacher's notes have been written by history expert Alf Wilkinson which will enable you to use the stories and medals to bring awe and wonder to story telling in history. The replica medals are an exact match of the real thing and will give children the opportunity to handle something they wouldn't ordinarily get the chance to. They also include the famous crimson ribbon. Set of 5 medals and teacher notes.
