Mrs Bee's Spelling Spinners are multisensory and fun to use. They are designed to be compatible with the DFE Letters and Sounds systematic phonic programme but can be used with any other reading and spelling programme based on the blending and segmenting of phonemes.
Supplied with teaching notes the spinners are intended for use with groups of children as part of their daily class phonics lessons. They are equally effective when used with groups or individuals who may for any number of reasons need extra catch-up work to practise and consolidate specific reading and spelling skills.
With no small parts to assemble and clear away, drop or lose, the spinners are an instant self-contained resource.
The windows help children align their chosen graphemes, and the word lists supplied with each spinner give the supporting adult a comprehensive supply of real words to choose from for the children to spell. Children will love to make up their own nonsense words too!
Special Thanks to Mrs Bee (AKA Alison Bergqvist) for her great idea and support developing this fantastic resource.
"The really clever thing about these spinners is the way they are each designed to target a very specific selection of graphemes..." Sue Gahagan, Year 3 class teacher and 1:1 tutor
"A great idea for reinforcing sounds and spelling - it even works well for adults learning English as a second language..." Catrina Durning, Literacy Advisor
