Bright, colourful and enticing photo pack designed to encourage children to think about the application of mathematics in the real world and to understand that mathematics is not simply an activity that takes place only in the classroom.
Helping pupils to develop maths language through pictures and problem solving.
30 activity cards based around mathematics in the real world. Each dry-wipe card features a full colour visual on the front and questions on the reverse relating to that image.
Designed to get children thinking about cross curricular mathematics and putting key areas of mathematics into meaningful contexts.
The visuals on the front are a helpful starting point and can be adapted to your setting and environment.
The cards cover everything from number and patterns to symmetry and angles.
The activities are set out in an easy-to-understand traffic light format: on your marks, get set and go!
On your marks...encourages pupils to tell you about the visual and what they can see in it e.g. shapes, numbers, patterns etc.
Get set... encourages children to use mathematical words to describe the content and where else they might find these kinds of shapes, patterns or numbers etc.
Go... encourages a child to use physical equipment or resources to support this learning and extension activities around it.
Each laminated, A4 activity card also features key maths vocabulary and the cross curricular and mathematics links.
The pack is suitable for all ages and abilities across KS1 and KS2 as the questions and vocabulary can be adapted to suit your children requirements or lesson objectives.
