Visual journey through a social situation for children and young people with social behavioural difficulties.
Includes: 1x A3 board game, 1x ripple pool, 40 x social situations (360 cards, 9 for each situation), 40 x coloured counters.
The game involves three stages:
• Identifying the child's place within family/society/school using the 'ripple pool'.
• Travelling through a social situation (either real or fictional), first identifying the situation and then travelling down a negative road and a positive road, discussing the behaviours and consequences of each action. The outcome is a visual representation of a situation and how it was or could be dealt with, highlighting those who were affected (either positively or negatively) as a result of behaviour.
• Affirmations - This gives the deliverer the opportunity to tell the child/young person what they did well during the game and what could be remembered next time. It also 'wraps up' the situation, helping the child/young person acknowledge that there is an end to each situation.
The game supports executive functions including: planning, organisation, decision making, problem solving, mental flexibility, multi-tasking and monitoring of actions.
