Rainsticks are made from fallen hollow cacti which have been dried in the sun. The spines are removed and driven into the cactus like nails, then small pebbles, beads or seeds are placed inside and the ends sealed.

Hold the Rainstick vertically to create a sound reminiscent of falling rain. The slower you tip it, the longer the rain will last.

It is understood that the Rainstick was invented by the Aztecs, for whom it was a ceremonial musical instrument, played in the belief that it would invoke the rain spirits to bring about rainstorms.

Perfect for adding special effects to accompany children's compositions, or as an intriguing artefact for History or Geography lessons.

Available in four sizes.
